Reading Update: The Darkest Minds – Errors!

Hi everyone. So I’m making this post because I’m on page 172 of The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken and I just can’t seem to get into it. I mean, I originally bought it and am now reading it mainly because on GoodReads almost all of my friends rated it 5 stars. So why can’t I seem to find the 5 star quality? It’s quite frustrating to me, considering I thought the synopsis sounded intriguing.

I think I’m just having a hard time connecting with the main character, Ruby. This is something that’s never happened to me while reading, so it’s quite an odd feeling.

One thing that’s also frustrating me about this book is grammatical errors. I find a hard time reading something without picking up on errors, so when I stumbled across two sentences that didn’t sound right, I was upset. (Though I’ve only found two so far, so hopefully no more!) This is what the sentences said:

“If I said I no, would they let me go?” (page 81)

“I stayed crouched between the two front seats as they boys jumped inside.” (page 148)

I know I am probably being annoying about this, because both errors seem to be small little typos, but I don’t know, I can’t help it.

How do you feel when you stumble across such errors?
